About the ties
ABOUT THE TIES
Each necktie displayed on this site was designed and handmade by me.
Except for the "Fire Tie" each tie design is limited to 20 editions and each piece is signed and numbered.
As with all handmade items, each tie in an edition will have some variations in both colors and designs from the pictures shown.
making the ties
I create the glass designs using kiln-formed glassworking techniques. I then cut each glass tie into 4 or 5 sections and hinge the sections together so they become flexible. I make and add an adjustable neck band and, Voila! - a wearable piece of glass art!
Each tie weighs between approximately 10 to 15 ounces (depending on the design elements), is 13 to 15 inches from the top of the "knot" to the bottom of the tie, and the neck band can be adjusted to fit neck sizes from 16 inches to 20 inches (larger neck sizes can be special ordered).
